Dear Canyon View Families,

I hope everyone had a nice Rodeo Break and that you were able to spend some time with family and friends. Today, parents will be able to view their child’s report card by logging into their ParentVUE account and clicking the Report Card section along the left side of your child’s homepage. There are tutorials found on our school website for your convenience to help you better understand your ParentVUE account http://cves.cfsd16.org/. Parents must have an active ParentVUE account in order to view/print their child’s report card. If you have any questions regarding your child’s report card or need assistance with ParentVUE, please do not hesitate to contact the front office.

As of this morning, 236 students out of 400 are registered for the 2019-2020 school year. We are asking families to register the remaining students we expect at Canyon View for next school year as soon as possible. Each year the number of teachers assigned to Canyon View is determined by the number of students registered at each grade level. This includes the assignment of classroom teachers as well as teachers who teach Robotics, Art, Music, PE, and World Languages. It is important to have accurate information early in the year so that the lowest student-to-teacher ratio is identified.

The online registration process is more efficient than in the past and can be completed by visiting the Canyon View website and clicking on the Register for School link. If you need assistance, please contact our office staff at 209-7701. A special thank you is extended to those families who have completed or will complete the process over the next few days. We appreciate your efforts!

On March 15, we will be holding our spring conferences and we will be on a half-day schedule. Morning Kindergarten students will be dismissed at 9:30AM. Students in Kindergarten Plus and grades 1-5 will be dismissed at 11:30AM. We will not serve lunch on March 15. Due to the half day, there will not be early release on Monday, March 11.

Spring Break is quickly approaching (3/25-3/29), and when we return we will begin the standardized testing for grades 3-5. The testing dates are published below. Please help us support your child’s success by ensuring a healthy night’s sleep and arrival to school on time. Students should be in their classroom at 8:00 AM.

Grade 4 will take the AIMS Science test using the computer based test. Grades 3-5 will take the AzMERIT tests in the areas of Reading, Writing and Mathematics. This is a computer-based assessment as well. We will provide headphones and headphone covers for our students, but some students may prefer to bring their own for testing. Headphones/earbuds are needed for the AzMERIT Reading, parts 1 and 2 tests. You may learn more about the AzMERIT by visiting the Arizona Department of Education’s website: http://azmeritportal.org/sample-tests/
